About

Hi! I'm so glad you're here!

My name is Alyssa, and I am PASSIONATE about women's healthcare. How passionate you ask? I'm obsessed! I've been around the world serving with the United States Navy, I work for an amazing Fortune 500 tech company, and I'm leaving all of it to pursue the thing that sets my soul on fire. I started on this new path at the beginning of this year and my love for this field has only grown since. The late nights studying, the research rabbit holes drinking in all the knowledge I possibly can.

One night I was deep in the research and realized how decentralized information about how the female body is. In May this year Forbes published an article titled “Half of Women in the UK Can't Label A Vagina on an Anatomy Chart.” It boggled my brain that with all the technology we have, we are still limiting sex education and perpetuating the stigma of shame and negative associations about owning a vagina, uterus, and ovaries. I want to change this. We are in 2022 and instead of flying cars and cool self-tying shoes, we're federally restricting female bodily autonomy. And why? Ignorance.

HER strives to change this ignorance. Hopefully, with enough time, work, knowledge, and advocacy, we can bring the world into a new era where decisions are made with data, understanding, and empathy.

Is it a pipe dream? Maybe. But let's go for it anyway.

Alyssa
